Senior Living Facilities
As multiple-unit residential facilities with high operational costs, senior living facilities have to consistently assess energy usage and system efficiencies to ensure long-term sustainability.
Typically, these buildings have a central domestic hot water (DHW) system, and use a significant amount of electricity for medical equipment, lighting and HVAC.
Facilities with the following characteristics are best able to take advantage of the savings produced by a CHP system:
- 80 or more apartments
- Centrally metered gas & electricity
- Use natural gas for comfort heat & domestic hot water
- High electric rates from the local utility company
- On-site laundry and food service
